Ease is a casual menswear collection. A photograph of a group of Chinese monks dressed as communists officers was the starting point of inspiration for this collection. The way the tunics were hanging over the monks' arms stood out as a powerful image. It made me consider the contrast between ancient Shaolin draping and the tailoring of military suits. In the collection, references to the Shaolin draping are evident in details on the shirts, tunics and lightweight pants, while the military suits serve as inspiration to long jackets and tailored pants. The same contrast is also present in the color and fabric choices with warm colors for the softer fabrics, like the bamboo silk, and military green and indigo for cotton twill and broadcloth.
